What is it that americans hate about socialism and communism?

Isn't it time for America to wake up and smell the bacon and realize capitalism is only truly benefiting tncs as the gap between rich and poor continues to extend. Socialism is a step forward however to many Americans living in the 1930s and this will allow China and other powers to easily sup Americas status. I'm sure free health care and other social changes could be possible if Americans stopped eating so much fat and started spending more on its own citezens and less on overseas aid or overseas wars like Libya. It dosen't make more unemployment or huge taxes what it actually does is make sure everyone is paying a fair amount to make a better America in the future and if your willing to live a lifestyle that leaves millions in poverty and will leave future generations in poverty then atleast be willing to pay the government to do something about it because no else will
