Would it be inappropriate to have a small civil wedding ceremony in Reno and a religious ceremony later?

My fiance enlisted in the Army and will be leaving for his training around late August. I am pregnant with his baby and we are planning a "" wedding in Reno, Nevada during the first week in August. My parents and brother and his mom and step father and younger sister will be the only guests. We need to do this in order to make our relationship "legal" and because of benefits that the Army pays to spouses. I followed the Jewish Religion though my fiance is Christian but has agreed to raise the child in my religion and has agreed to marry by a Jewish Army Chaplan. When he completes his Infantry Training in about 5 to 6 months from August (I think!) I want to remarry him on the base in a religious ceremony. My hero will wear his dress uniform with all his medals on his chest (sigh!). I'm hoping my parents and his parents can attend plus perhaps some of his soldier friends. He really doesn't have too many personal friends so that will not be a problem. I'm his BEST friend!
