Why am I so ticklish during ?

I recently lost my virginity to a guy I really like and for the most part it was an awesome experience but lots of the stuff he was doing tickled like crazy! When he kissed and touched my chest, stomach or thighs I'd tense up and have to bite my lip not to laugh and when he licked under my crotch and my hole it was almost unbearably ticklish! I had to ask him to stop after about a minute. Is this common? Is there a way to overcome it?
