What is a good drink for an adult male?

I have a date tonight (first time in years) and I know we are going to drink, and I don't think my standard red bull and vodka is going to make a good first impression, so what is a good drink for a male that will be "adult"? I was told makers mart(sp) but I don't think I can do scotch. thanks in advance
